Air source heat pumps are significantly contributing to the nation's efforts to meet net zero carbon emissions goals. These systems extract heat from the air and channel it into water-based heating systems, like radiators or underfloor heating.
The pumps run on electricity instead of gas. They suck in outdoor air and pass it over tubes containing refrigerant fluids which concentrate and boost the warmth to produce heat. The system consists of a box which stands outside the property, as well as a heat pump unit and hot water cylinder inside the property. The indoor unit is about the size of a gas boiler, while the cylinder depends on the size of the home.
Heat pumps are more efficient than gas boilers and can use electricity generated from increasingly clean sources, as wind and solar power replace polluting fossil fuels.
Air source heat pumps operate at lower temperatures than traditional fossil fuel boilers, they require careful planning to meet a property’s heating needs.
Proper design, correct sizing of heat emitters, good insulation, and a thorough handover from the installer are crucial for optimizing the efficiency of these low-carbon systems.
At County, we collaborate with homeowners, installers, local authorities, commercial entities, and house builders to design and facilitate the installation of air source heat pumps.
Why work with us?
Simple, we offer:
For installers: Provide us with the plans, and we'll handle the details so you can focus on the installation.
The Government has set up initiatives and legislation designed to support the installation of efficient heating systems and sustainable technologies.
Through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump. This scheme is open to people in England and Wales.
You can get one grant per property. Currently grants are available for £7,500 towards an air source heat pump
The system must meet certain standards, such as minimum efficiency levels and we can advise you on all of these aspects.
