    Everbuild® Black Jack® 904 Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive – 2.5 L

Cold-applied oxidised bitumen-based adhesive provided in a 2.5 L tin. Durable and flexible, it bonds roofing felt to a variety of substrates and can also be used as a cold-gritting solution.

    Key benefits

    • Provides a tough yet flexible film that adapts to temperature changes.
    • High bond strength ensures long-lasting adhesion to roofing felt.
    • Also works effectively as a cold mix for gritting applications.
    • Resistant to most salt solutions, dilute acids and alkalis, water, and alcohol.

    Typical applications

    • Bonding roofing felt to itself, concrete, asphalt, metal, wood, and similar surfaces.
    • Sealing felt laps and embedding gravel/chippings onto final felt layer.
    • Cold-gritting roofs with slopes up to 10°.

    Usage guidance

    • Make sure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from debris.
    • Apply with brush or mop; allow the adhesive to become tacky (15–30 minutes). Then lay felt, rolling to ensure full contact and eliminate air pockets.
    • Edge laps: minimum 75 mm; roll-end laps: minimum 150 mm—apply adhesive liberally and compact.
    • For timber roofs, secure the first felt layer by nailing (per BS 8217:1994), then bond subsequent layers with this adhesive.
    • For gritting: spread evenly over approximately 20 m² areas, immediately apply chippings, and brush away excess after 72 hours.
    • Clean tools promptly using paraffin or white spirit.

    Product details

    • Storage life: 24 months if kept sealed, intact, and stored at 5–25 °C away from ignition sources.

    Good to know

Not resistant to oils, solvents or strong detergents. Ensure a priming coat of Black Jack® 902 Bitumen & Flashing Primer on porous substrates before application. Always check bonding thoroughly after 24 hours, especially at interfaces.
