Fire Rated Sealants & Expanding Foams for Passive Protection
Our fire rated sealants and expanding foams help maintain the fire resistance of walls, floors, and service penetrations. Ideal for sealing gaps around cables, pipework, door frames, and joints, these products are designed to slow the spread of fire, smoke, and toxic gases.
Choose from intumescent sealants and single-component fire foams with up to 4 hours of fire resistance. Many options are tested to BS EN standards and are suitable for use in both residential and commercial buildings where firestopping compliance is required.
What’s the difference between fire foam and standard expanding foam? Fire foam contains intumescent additives that expand under high heat to block fire and smoke. Standard foam does not provide rated fire resistance and should not be used in regulated fire-stopping applications.
How long is the fire resistance rating? It depends on the product and installation, but most fire sealants and foams offer between 2 to 4 hours of resistance. Always refer to the technical data sheet for certification and performance specs.
Can I use fire rated sealant around electrical cables? Yes — many intumescent sealants are formulated for safe use around services, including cables and conduits, and will expand to seal gaps in case of fire. Check product specifications to ensure suitability for your use case.
