What's the difference between plywood, MDF and OSB?

The best choice depends on your project. Plywood is valued for its strength and moisture resistance, making it suitable for many construction and joinery applications. MDF has a smooth surface that's ideal for painting, furniture and interior projects, while OSB is a durable and cost-effective structural board commonly used for flooring, roofing and wall sheathing.

Which timber should I use for stud walls?

CLS timber is commonly used for internal stud walls because it's planed with rounded edges, making it easy to handle and install. For structural applications where higher strength is required, C24 graded timber may be specified. If you're unsure which timber is suitable for your project, our experienced team will be happy to help.

Do you supply treated timber?

Yes. We stock pressure-treated timber for a range of outdoor and construction projects, including fencing, decking and structural applications. Pressure treatment helps protect timber against rot, fungal decay and insect attack, making it better suited to external use.

Which sheet material is best for flooring?

For structural flooring, OSB and flooring-grade tongue-and-groove chipboard are popular choices. Plywood may also be suitable for flooring applications where additional strength or moisture resistance is required. The right option depends on your project and the manufacturer's recommendations.

Do you offer a timber or sheet material cutting service?
